So many do not set higher goals for their health than to be "not sick". It's kind of like running a business and setting a goal not to “go bankrupt”.
The best way to rest a congested head is to move. Sitting still makes it difficult for the muscles to get oxygen. Movement increases concentration and sharpness. Just as there are limits for how much you can lift at work, there should be limits for how much you can sit still.
Today, companies and organizations invest in raising people's professional skills. That's great, but what good is it when our bodies aren't equipped to handle a fast pace and harder load? In the same way, it should be obvious to invest in lifestyle competence; that is, to acquire knowledge about how the body and also the soul work and how to best care for them. Ill-health costs companies huge amounts, perhaps it should be as natural to study a company's fitness values as to review other financial ratios?
Firefighters, glaziers or other craftsmen need to be in good physical shape to do their job, everyone knows that. A salesperson, project manager, doctor or stockbroker cannot either do their jobs without being in good physical shape - not in the long run. Since a large proportion of young people in the future will have bodies that cannot withstand work, employers will likely be forced to tighten their personnel policies. It should be obvious with physical tests during recruitment, scheduled time for physical activity and training on how staff should eat well and deal with stress.
Today it is more important to talk about the obligation to stay healthy, rather the right to be sick. The obligation to prepare for old age rather than take the right to support for granted.
An employer does not buy a computer with a lower capacity at the same price as one with a higher capacity. But personnel policy does not adjust the price tag to a high- or low-performing individual. Let us therefore in the future reward systems where it pays to take responsibility for one's health.
Now there is a polarization; either you go to the gym and run in the forest. Or you sit still. The sedentary group is unfortunately getting bigger. Social development and the new lifestyle stimulate passivity.
• No reclining chairs in the world can compensate for the lack of movement. Go out for a walk during the working day instead of sitting still indoors and try to stay alert in artificial ways.
